“This car is a bona-fide 1969 Charger R/T,” the seller states. “It was purchased as a General roller with no engine or transmission and was purported to be a backup car for the Dukes of zzard movie, but was not in the film. [ wever,] there is no formal documentation of this, and it IS NOT being sold as a movie car,” he proclaims.

He goes on to say, “I’m selling the car for my mother-in-law who inherited it from her son, who passed suddenly.” Thus, the seller is assisting the owner of the vehicle, with her approval, to get the vehicle listed online.

“Her son was a rather reclusive fellow, kept the car under wraps and rarely talked about it,” the seller continues. “I personally had never seen the car until he passed, so I did a lot of research and inspecting, and gathered as much documentation as I could find.”

  • X in the first position of the VIN denotes the Charger.
  • S in the second position of the VIN is for “special,” the R/T.
  • L in the fifth position of the VIN identifies the 375-hp, four-barrel 440 cu.in. OHV V8.
  • A non-original-to-the-car 440 is currently in the engine bay.
  • The engine partial VIN stamp is 1C164835, which does not match the car’s VIN, the seller notes.
  • The first 1 in the block’s VIN is for the year, 1 440, yet the casting date appears to be for 1968.
  • This 440 features a four-barrel carb, iron intake, and aluminum lbrock Performer RPM heads.
  • Its camshaft is not stock.
  • An aftermarket electronic ignition, and the exhaust, battery, and gas tank are new, he says.
  • An aluminum radiator was installed.
  • A TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission and torque converter were purchased.
  • No body damage has been reported.
  • The car is “very straight,” the seller notes
  • He adds, “there are no dents, rust, or evidence of collision repairs anywhere.”
  • The body has been repainted at least twice, he says.
  • It had General paint prior to the current maroon color, he adds.
  • Per the fender tag, the car was originally code-F8 Dark metallic with code-C6G green interior.
  • The vinyl top trim, drip rails, and front and rear windshield trim look fine.
  • Its black interior is in “great condition,” he says, with no rips or tears and just light wear.
  • The gas and brake pedals also show very little wear, he adds.
  • The power steering components are new, the seller says.
  • Power drum brakes are present.
  • BF Radial T/A tires ride on 15-inch aftermarket aluminum wheels.
  • The chrome and reflectors are off the car, but are labeled and in the trunk, the seller says.
  • A receipt for the transmission and torque converter is included.
  • It needs carburetor tuning, he warns.
  • The transmission has a slight leak where the dipstick goes into it.
  • The exterior finish’s texture is a bit rough.
  • “I’m no expert, but it appears that the final sand and buff was not performed,” he says.
  • There are defects on top of the rear quarter panel on passenger’s side.
  • There’s a paint bubble on the hood.
  • A light vertical line is on the driver’s-side rear quarter-panel.
  • This can only be seen when the light hits it right.
  • The hood-mounted blinkers are missing, as are the mounting brackets for the side markers.
  • No headliner is present.
  • The driver’s-side door panel has cracks and surface wear.
  • The radio does not work.
  • No A/C compressor is present, but it is an A/C car.
  • Per its VIN, this Charger is a factory 440 R/T.
  • A modified 440 with aluminum heads has replaced the original engine.
  • The car was repainted maroon, per the seller.
  • He assumes the General flag remains on the roof as it was going to be covered with a vinyl top.
  • This Mopar still requires some finishing work, as discussed in the “Needs” section.

The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean Minnesota title in the owner’s name. The seller is assisting the owner, with her permission, to get the car listed online. He adds, “This is a rare opportunity to buy a beautiful, rust-free car.”
