This 1969 Morgan Plus 8 is a left-hand-drive example that is said to have undergone a refurbishment in Germany under previous ownership that involved an engine rebuild, replacement of the transmission, repair of the wood framework, a repaint, and an interior retrim. Imported to the US in 2015, the car is finished in silver and black over black leather and powered by a 3.5-liter Rover V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a side-exit exhaust system, a louvered hood, a black soft top, a luggage rack, and 15” alloy wheels. Acquired by the current owner in 2019, this Plus 8 is now offered on dealer consignment with refurbishment photos, removable side curtains, and a Florida title listing the car as a 1971 model. The body was removed from the chassis as part of the aforementioned multi-year refurbishment, which is said to have been completed in 2007. Portions of the wood framing were replaced, and the chassis and axles were stripped and refinished in black. The bulkhead was replaced, the fenders and inner panels were media-blasted and repaired, and the door skins, quarter panels, and rear panel are said to have been replaced with aluminum units before the car was repainted in silver with black fenders. Exterior details include a louvered hood, a black soft top, a side-exit exhaust, and a chrome front bumper, left-side mirror, luggage rack, and rear bumperettes. Cracks on the right door and left taillight housing are shown up close in the gallery. The majority of the photos were taken in May 2023. Silver-finished 15” alloy wheels are wrapped with 185-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A matching spare is mounted to the back of the car. Braking is handled by servo-assisted disc brakes up front and drums out back, and the brake lines were replaced during the refurbishment, per the selling dealer. The brake fluid is said to have been changed in preparation for the sale. The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black leather that extends to the dashboard fascia, door panels, and center console. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 240-km/h speedometer and a combination gauge, while a VDO 7k-rpm tachometer is located on the left side of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 96k kilometers (~60k miles), and total mileage is unknown. The 3.5-liter Rover V8 is said to have been partially rebuilt during the refurbishment and is equipped with dual SU carburetors, which were cleaned in preparation for the sale along with the fuel pump. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transmission. Photos taken at various stages of the refurbishment are presented in the gallery.
