This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible is said to have been refurbished in 2017, after which it was purchased by the current owner in 2021, following a June 2021 BaT auction. The car is finished in silver with black painted stripes over black upholstery, and power comes from a replacement 454ci V8. Work under current ownership has included installing a custom-built 4L65e four-speed automatic transmission that is controlled by a Compushift Sport TCM, an Eaton Truetrac limited-slip differential with 3.55:1 gears, an HEI distributor, an Edelbrock electric choke carburetor, and replacement electric cooling fans. The car is also equipped with a high-capacity aluminum radiator, Hedman Hedders long-tube headers, a MagnaFlow dual exhaust system with an x-pipe, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, power-assisted steering, a power-operated black soft top, a cowl induction hood, Quik Latch hood pins, and 18″ Ridler wheels as well as custom front sport seats, Classic Auto Air climate control, a tilt steering column, Classic Instruments gauges, and an Alpine head unit. This Chevelle Malibu convertible is now offered on dealer consignment with an owner’s manual, recent service records, and a Washington state title. The car is said to have been repainted in its current silver with black stripes during the 2017 refurbishment. Features include SS badging, dual side-view mirrors, and a cowl induction hood with Quik Latch hood pins. H4 headlights were installed in 2021. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering, and a replacement steering gearbox and coupler were installed under current ownership along with replacement Bilstein B6 shocks. Wilwood six- and four-piston brake calipers are fitted over drilled and slotted rotors. The cabin features bolstered aftermarket seats trimmed in black along with a matching rear bench, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a Classic Auto Air climate control system, a center console, manual-crank windows, lap belts, Chevelle SS-branded floor mats, and an Alpine head unit with Bluetooth connectivity. An ignition kill switch and radiator fan override switch were installed in 2021. The four-spoke steering wheel was mounted on the tilting steering column under current ownership ahead of Classic Instruments gauges including a 160-mph speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer. The six-digit odometer shows under 1,500 miles, 450 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 454ci V8 was installed under previous ownership and features a K&N air cleaner, Hedman Hedders long-tube headers, and finned Chevrolet-branded valve covers. A Summit Racing HEI distributor was installed in 2022 along with an Edelbrock electric choke carburetor, and replacement electric radiator cooling fans were installed in 2023.
