This 1971 Pontiac GTO convertible was delivered new to Alpine Motors of Brooklyn, New York, and was refurbished under prior ownership between 2008 and 2010. Work included stripping and refinishing the body and chassis, repairing and replacing sheet metal, reupholstering the interior, and overhauling the brakes, suspension, and steering. Power is provided by a 400ci V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in red over black vinyl upholstery. It is equipped with a power-operated black convertible top, air conditioning, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, 15″ Rally II wheels, a center console, a Hurst shifter, and a Delco push-button AM/FM radio. This GTO convertible was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 and is now offered with a binder of refurbishment photos, Pontiac Historic Services documents, and a transferable New York registration document. The car left the factory finished in Canyon Copper, and it was disassembled and underwent sheet metal repairs prior to being repainted in red. Details include a power-operated black soft top, dual hood scoops, an Endura front bumper, a chrome rear bumper, bright finished rocker trim, quad headlamps, and twin exhaust outlets exiting through each side of the rear valance. The 15″ Rally II wheels wear PMD center caps and are mounted with 215/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. A spare is stored in the trunk. The car features power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted vented front discs and finned rear drums. The cabin was reupholstered in black vinyl during the refurbishment and features textured seat inserts, woodgrain trim, and GTO interior badges. Amenities include air conditioning, a Hurst shifter, a center console, engine-turned aluminum dashboard trim, and retractable front lap seatbelts. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a multifunction gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 19k miles. Total mileage is unknown. The 400ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor, a dual-snorkel air cleaner assembly, and a blue-finished engine block, cylinder heads, and valve covers. Engine and cylinder head stampings are shown in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt rear axle. A replacement dual exhaust system has been installed. Pontiac Historic Services documentation and a dealer invoice copy are included in the sale. A photo binder documents the 2008-2010 refurbishment. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its transferrable New York registration.
