1971 Porsche LWB 911T (1969-1973)

This 1971 Porsche 911T is a track car that was built as a tribute to the 1973 “Mary Stuart” RSR. The seller was an IMSA Porsche driver from 1995-2000 and purchased the car in August 2009 as a project. It was disassembled and painted silver on the exterior and black/white on the interior. A replacement 2.7 liter case was rebuilt with RS pistons, racing cams, and Weber 40 carbs. Shifting comes from a rebuilt 915 5-speed manual transmission sending power to a limited-slip differential. While not street-legal, the vehicle has been driven by the seller in six Porsche club track events since the build. It is located in Colorado and sold with a Porsche CoA, spare tires, and a clean Montana title. The steel body has been augmented with fiberglass body panels and bumpers. The Martini sponsorship decals, paint scheme, and unique rear bodywork are inspired by the 1973 911 RSR “Mary Stuart” LeMans 24 hour racer. Some track wear is noted, including a crack in the passenger-side of the glass windshield. Quarter windows are also glass, though the rear window is a plexiglass unit. Side windows, headlights, blinkers, and wipers were deleted, but brake lights remain. Custom wheels were built using the centers from 6×16” Fuchs along with BBS inner and outer halves. Hoosier tires measure 8.5x 16” in front and 10x 16” out back. The seller says that before the car is track ready, the brakes could use bleeding and new tires should be installed. Two sets of slightly older but unused Hoosier DTs are included in the sale. Inside the cockpit, the single cloth racing seat and steering wheel were in place when the seller purchased the car. Cloth on the seat is deteriorating and the steering wheel displays wear. Deleting the interior surfaces, seating, and much of the switchgear has lowered the dry weight of this example to a reported 1,980 pounds. The seller believes the 2.7 liter case to be from 1975. It was rebuilt with RS pistons, racing cams, Weber 40 carbs, and exhaust headers with megaphones. Receipts are available from the completed work. According to the seller, the 911T had no rust when he purchased it in 2009 as it had previously been in Arizona and Las Vegas. It was already equipped with Getty Design Mary Stuart-style rear fenders. The car was disassembled and the exterior was painted silver during the build. The front trunk was finished in white while the interior, engine compartment, and wheel wells were painted black.
