This 1972 Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior was reportedly sold new in Italy and brought to The Netherlands in 1986. The 1.6-liter inline-four is said to have been overhauled and modified by Dutch tuning company Arese Classico in 2017, including the installation of dual Dell’Orto carburetors, electronic ignition, higher-lift camshafts, and high compression pistons. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and 9/41 differential, and the car is finished in silver over black vinyl upholstery. Additional equipment includes Koni shocks, Arese Stage 1 springs and front sway bar, upgraded suspension bushings, four-wheel disc brakes, and 14” Stil-Auto wheels. The car was acquired in 2022 by the current owner, and subsequent work is said to have included a transmission overhaul, valve adjustment, fluid changes, and replacement of the clutch kit, thermostat, brake pads, and spark plugs. This GT Junior is being offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in Amsterdam with Dutch registration. The car is said to have received a repaint in Grigio Chiaro Metallizzato silver (AR-737) around eight years ago. The front and rear bumpers have been removed, and equipment includes a chrome driver’s side mirror and a retractable antenna. The seller notes that the removed stainless-steel bumpers are included in the sale. The 14” Stil-Auto wheels are mounted with 185/70 Pirelli Cinturato tires that were reportedly installed in 2021, and a full-size spare is found in the trunk. Braking is through four-wheel discs. The car rides lower than stock on Arese Stage 1 springs and is equipped with an Arese front sway bar with polyurethane mountings. Work carried out between May and June 2022 reportedly included replacement of the hydraulic brake cylinder as well as the installation of Koni shocks, Ferodo brake pads, and replacement rear axle rubbers. The cabin houses seats trimmed in black vinyl along with matching rubber floor mats. Wood trim accents the dash, and features include an Arese shift knob, shoulder belts for front occupants, and a Pioneer CD stereo mounted under the dash and wired to speakers on the rear parcel shelf. A wood-rimmed Hellebore steering wheel frames an 8k-rpm tachometer with an inset oil pressure gauge and a 220-km/h speedometer. Dual auxiliary gauges are mounted under the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 44k kilometers (~27k miles), around 2k of which have been added during current ownership, though total mileage is unknown. The speedometer and tachometer cables are said to have been replaced in preparation for the sale. The 1.6-liter twin-cam inline-four was reportedly rebuilt by Arese Classico in 2017 with dual Dell’Orto DHLA 40 carburetors, an overhauled cylinder head, a balanced crankshaft, Colombo & Bariani camshafts, and forged 10.5:1 compression pistons. An electronic 123Ignition system is also said to have been installed, along with an upgraded radiator and valve springs, SORAM GTA-style headers, Soram exhaust system, and a replacement oil pump. According to the seller, service carried out under current ownership has included tuning the carburetors, performing a valve adjustment, changing the oil and coolant, and replacing the thermostat, ignition coil, fuel hoses, spark plugs, and ignition wires. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission with a lightened flywheel and an overhauled 9/41 differential. The transmission is said to have been overhauled during current ownership, with work including the installation of a Sachs clutch kit and pressure plate as well as replacement of the synchros, bearings, oil seals, and hydraulic clutch cylinder.
