1972 Jaguar XKE Series III

This 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in Signal Red over tan leather, and features include a tan soft top, a top boot, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an AM/FM radio. The car was refurbished before being acquired by the seller’s late father in 2018. This Series III E-Type is now offered by the seller on behalf of their mother with a clean Florida title. The car is finished in Signal Red and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a tan soft top, a matching top boot, uncovered headlights, and a forward-hinged louvered hood. There is a paint chip over the front wheel well and the remote mirror is inoperative. The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with Pirelli Cinturato tires measuring 205/70. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in tan leather. Interior amenities include an AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning, which is inoperative. The seller notes the air conditioning blower motor is noisy. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 314 horsepower and 349 lb-ft of torque when new. Service in April 2022 reportedly included rebuilding the carburetors and replacing the spark plugs, battery, starter motor, fuel lines, air filters, and check valves.
