This 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint was acquired out of Maryland by the current owner in December 2005 and subsequently repainted in green and the interior re-trimmed in black upholstery. The car is powered by a 1.6-liter “Big Valve” inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a beige soft top, pop-up headlights, yellow-finished 13″ Minilite-style wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, dual Stromberg carburetors, a roll bar, electric windows, and a Pioneer head unit. Work in 2023 reportedly included reupholstering the seats, replacing the horn relay, and an oil change. This Elan Sprint is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a beige top boot and a clean California title. Previously finished yellow, the fiberglass body was repainted in green under current ownership. Exterior details include a beige soft top and matching top boot, pop-up headlights, silver-finished bumpers, hood hold-down pins, bullet-style side mirrors, and a central exhaust outlet. Paint bubbling on the nose is depicted in the photo gallery below. Yellow-finished 13″ Minilite-style wheels are secured by three-eared knockoffs and mounted with 175/60 Kenda Kaiser tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The cockpit has been refurbished and is equipped with bucket seats that are said to have been re-trimmed in black upholstery in 2023. The door panels and center armrest feature beige inserts, and additional appointments include a roll bar, electric windows, a wooden shift knob, and a cabin heater. A Pioneer head unit and aftermarket speakers have been added and are linked with a trunk-mounted Alpine amplifier. The seller states the horn relay was replaced in August 2023. The aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel fronts a wood dash panel housing Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added by the current owner. True mileage is unknown. The twin-cam 1.6L “Big Valve” inline-four is fed by dual Stromberg carburetors and has been fitted with an auxiliary electric fan. A battery cut-off switch has been added, and an oil change was carried out in August 2023. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The VIN on the title is a combination of the vehicles type number (45) and the VIN on the chassis tag (0113K).
