This 1972 Triumph TR6 underwent a multi-year refurbishment that was completed in 2022 and was acquired by the seller on BaT in November 2022. Power is provided by a 2.5-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and the car is finished in British Racing Green over black vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes a black convertible top, 15″ steel wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, dual Zenith Stromberg carburetors, a stainless-steel exhaust system, a Clarion stereo, and Rockford Fosgate speakers. This TR6 is now offered with service records, spare parts, and a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name. The body was removed from the frame and stripped during the refurbishment and additional work consisted of repairing rust and replacing the left front fender, battery tray, and rocker panels before the car was refinished in British Racing Green. The soft top, windshield, weatherstripping, badging, side mirror, door hardware, and exterior lenses were also replaced and the fuel filler cap, taillight housings, and bumpers were re-chromed. There are scratches on the stainless molding above the windshield. Silver powder-coated 15″ steel wheels with bright trim rings are mounted with 205/70 Michelin Defender XT tires. A spare wheel and a tire change kit are mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The following were replaced during the refurbishment: Front brake calipers and pads Brake master cylinder and lines Brake shoes Rear wheel cylinders Emergency brake cables Suspension bushings Front Shocks Upper ball joints Front lower trunnions The black vinyl upholstery, door panels, carpets, and carpet underlay were replaced under prior ownership along with the crash pads, center plinth, facia support cover, and sun visors. Additional refurbishment work included the installation of a poly transmission and driveshaft tunnel as well as the replacement of the ignition switch, signal light flasher, column light switch, and dash bulbs. Interior elements include manual-crank windows, a locking glove compartment, a heater and defroster, a Clarion AM/FM stereo, and Rockford Fosgate speakers. Smiths instrumentation housed within a replacement walnut dash fascia consists of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The tachometer was refurbished by Nisonger Instruments, and the speedometer and tachometer cables were replaced. The seller notes that the left turn signal intermittently does not auto-cancel. The five-digit odometer shows 66k miles, approximately 700 of which were added under current ownership. The 2.5-liter inline-six was overhauled during the refurbishment and reportedly over-bored and balanced. The distributor and dual Zenith Stromberg carburetors were rebuilt, the fuel tank was cleaned, and the following components were replaced: Pistons, rings, camshaft, bearings, main and rod bearings Timing chain Oil pump Oil pressure sender Harmonic balancer Motor mounts Ignition coil, distributor cap, and rotor Fuel lines and sending unit Fuel pump Water pump Radiator, overflow bottle, and hoses Fan belt and shroud Heater core Windshield washer reservoir Condenser, spark plugs, and points Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Work completed during the refurbishment included replacing the clutch, pressure plate, clutch master and slave cylinders, U-joints, differential mounts, and rear axle bearings as well as reinforcing the frame above the rear axle and installing a stainless-steel exhaust system. The chassis was sandblasted before being painted black. Photos taken during various stages of the refurbishment can be viewed in the gallery below.
