Note that this car is a GS Stage 1 clone and not an actual GS Stage 1. It has the GS rear sway bar, but not the other mechanical features.
This car is very well optioned with power windows, power locks, tilt steering wheel, speed minder buzzer, power driver and passenger seats, wide chrome rocker molding, chrome Buick rally wheels with correct center caps, remote trunk release, rear window defogger, 4-note horn, passenger side external mirror, fender mount indicators, vinyl roof, air conditioning; dealer installed chrome engine appearance package. If you are wondering why there is no center console, it was only offered with a black, white, or saddle colored interior. It was not available with the red, blue, or green interiors.
I have driven this car to and . It is a very smooth running car with all mechanical issues properly addressed. Since I have owned this car I have performed the following service: new exhaust system; full tune up including plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and points; recored radiator with a high capacity core which allows the car to idle on a hot July day without overheating; replaced exhaust manifold gaskets; new harmonic balancer; rebalanced driveshaft with new u-joints.
The body is free from rust while the undercarriage is clean, but shows signs of being driven. It would take very little work to make the undercarriage show condition. The paint is probably a 7 out of 10. There are a couple places where the paint is cracked as shown in one of the pictures. This is about 5% of the total surface area. The pin stripe also has a couple small sections that are missing as can be seen in the photos. All of the chrome is in excellent condition including the bumpers and trim.
The interior is in very nice condition with not tears or wear on the seats. There is one patch on the side of the passenger seat which is peeling off as shown in the photos. The carpet has no wear and might have been replaced before I purchased the car. The door panels are very nice. The arms rests have no cracks and might have been redone before I purchased the car. If they were, they were done very well as many do not have the correct shape to them. These have the proper form.
The odometer shows just over 22K miles. I cannot confirm if this is the original miles on the car or not. If it has rolled over, I can find no evidence of anything that would have that many miles. ly, if it is only 22K miles, then it was not a perfectly preserved 22K mile original car. It would appear more like a well cared for car with 70K original miles. The trip odometer does not work properly.
This car has won a BCA Silver award, BCA d award, 1st place at the GS Nationals, and numerous awards from local shows.
I have put very few miles on this car over the past decade as two issues presented a problem. First, I was finally able to track a bad engine vibration down to a bad harmonic balancer. Then while replacing the exhaust manifold gasket, a bolt broke off in the head. I was finally able to fix both items and since, the engine runs extremely smooth and quiet. I have put approximately 11K miles on this car in my 22+ years of ownership.
The car comes with a flannel lined custom fit fornia Car r.
The only reason I am selling this car is because I am running out of space as my collection grows. car people, we all have the incurable addiction. Some of us simply have it worse than others.
