1973 TVR Special 2500M Coupe

 
Although TVR engineering was formed in 1947 – – series production finally got underway in 1958 with the TVR MKI.  Continuous evolution through the 60’s and 70’s led to my 2500M.
The longer wheelbase “M” tubular chassis was prototyped in 1967 with many fiberglass body changes used in production from the late 60’s until 1979.  fered with a variety of engines and drivelines, most M’s used available Triumph 6-cylinder engines.
When I built this car in 2010 to go vintage racing with the ntage Sports Car Drivers sociation (V.S.C.D.A.) I had already raced a Triumph TR3 and a TR4 with them, and I wanted to continue racing in p 2.  part of the restoration/build I made a case for retrofitting the TVR back to the 60’s using earlier Triumph parts.  The engine and driveline are from a Triumph TR4 – last made in 1967.  ed to 2188cc the engine gets fuel from twin 1 3/4″ S.U. carburetors, electric fuel pump, and an 8-gallon 
Fuel Safe cell.  The four speed Triumph transmission is stock, and the IRS differential has a 3.45:1 
gear set on a Locker carrier.  The brakes are stock Triumph caliper/rotor units in the front with finned drums in the rear.  TVR sourced many of their steering parts from Triumph, steering rack, uprights, hubs, etc.  That said the rear hubs and half shafts have been replaced with a Datsun 240Z upgrade for safety reasons.  QA1 adjustable coil over shocks and uprated springs have also been installed.  
15″x6″ alloy wheels with 205×60 sier Speedster tires work well with the Triumph/TVR package.
Albeit the tires are now out of date.  Fall of 2013 at d was the last time that I raced the car.  
Currently the car enjoys some street use – licensed and insured, with working lights, turn signals, windshield wipers, and a horn.  The engine has an oil leak at the front plate – leaves a little on the garage floor.  Car comes with removable roll cage side and rear bars, rear sway bar, spare and original rear hubs, log book.
