This 1974 Volkswagen Thing Acapulco Edition is one of approximately 400 examples produced for the US market. It is finished in white with blue accents over blue and white-striped leatherette and is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include a striped Surrey top, 15″ Baja-style wheels, duckboards, and folding rear seats. The car was first sold on BaT in January 2019, and the seller acquired it in July 2019. This Acapulco Edition Type 181 is now offered with and a clean Michigan title. The car is finished in white with blue accents and is equipped with a blue and white Surrey top as well as a fold-down windshield, fender-mounted turn signals, and removable doors. The bumpers are said to have been repainted under previous ownership. There are dents in the right-front fender near the headlight and the right-side mirror is cracked. Stopping power is provided by drums at all four corners. The seating surfaces were reupholstered in white and blue-striped leatherette under previous ownership, and interior amenities include duckboards, folding rear seats, seat belts, and a heater. The four-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest and frames a 100-mph speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, less than 500 of which were added under current ownership. The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory rated at 46 horsepower and 72 lb-ft of torque.
