This 1977 Land Rover 101 Forward Control is a left-hand drive example that was delivered new to the UK Ministry of Defense and was acquired in July 2018 by the seller from a private collection out of Poland. The truck was subsequently modified into an overland-style expedition vehicle with a custom aluminum roof-mounted clamshell camper cabin by Latitude Overland of Bristol, England. It has been repainted in Dovas White and Bahamas Gold Raptor bedliner material over brown leather upholstery and is powered by a replacement 3.5-liter Rover V8 mated with an LT95 four-speed manual gearbox and a dual-range transfer case. Additional features include a vacuum-operated locking center differential, adjustable air ride suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, an electrically-actuated pop-top tent with a sleeping area, HVAC, DC power, an onboard water tank and filtration system, auxiliary power supply, roof-mounted solar panels, teak-lined floors, a fold-out awning, and a kitchenette with a dual-bin refrigerator, sink, and single-burner stove. This Land Rover camper is being offered in Cornwall, England with a Ministry of Defense certificate of origin and UK registration in the seller’s name. The truck was fitted with a custom aluminum camper cabin during the build prior to being coated in Dovas White and Bahamas Gold Raptor bedliner material. Additional work at that time reportedly consisted of replacing the aluminum body panels in the rear of the cab, refurbishing the windshield, galvanizing the bulkhead, front bumper, and door hinges, and replacing the front door tops, bottoms, and hardware. Equipment includes an LED front light bar, rear spotlight, and headlights, taillights, and indicators as well as a passenger-side storage locker, an AluCab 270-degree fold-out awning with side panels, mounting points for a tent, front pintle hitch, and a rear ball hitch with integrated steps. Off-white painted 16” steel wheels are mounted with 255/100 Michelin XZL tires, and a matching spare is mounted to the custom swing-out stainless-steel rear carrier. Four-wheel disc brakes were installed by Able Engineering of Leicester, England during the build, and the truck rides on height-adjustable air suspension with tuned Bilstein shocks. The truck is equipped with hydraulic power steering, and the seller notes that the steering box has been refurbished, an aluminum brake master cylinder installed, and the ball joints and rear leaf springs replaced. The left-hand drive cabin houses fixed-back bucket seats that have been reupholstered in Boxmark Extreme water-resistant brown leather. The headliner has been re-trimmed in British Millerain canvas with stainless-steel fittings. Equipment includes multi-point harnesses, an aluminum headliner and door panels, leather shift boots, sliding side windows, a rear bulkhead with a custom stainless-steel access door to the living quarters, and a dash-mounted screen for the back-up camera, both of which were reportedly installed by R & L Auto Electrics of Plymouth, England. A leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of a 140-km/h speedometer and a combination gauge. An analog clock and two auxiliary displays are found in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 77k kilometers (~48k miles), around 4k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The living quarters feature marine-grade teak flooring reportedly sourced from Robbins Timber of Bristol, England, wood cabinets, and brown leather-upholstered bench seats. An electric water pump with 60-liter stainless-steel water storage tanks are housed in a custom stainless-steel drawer on lockable stainless-steel sliders. Additional interior components include the following: LED lighting Webasto gas heater 240V outlets, Mounting bracket for a 24” television screen Overhead cargo net Custom stainless-steel storage rack with aluminum doors Dual Cyrus Mission 2 100w amplifiers with Bluetooth connectivity Dual Monitor Audio Climate 50 outdoor speakers SnoMaster double-bin refrigerator Rear kitchenette with a sink and single-burner propane-fueled stove Lifeline water filtration system The custom pop-top sleeping area is constructed of aluminum sheet metal bonded and riveted to an aluminum frame, and features a Sauleda acrylic canvas tent with YKK zip-up windows, a hinged bed platform on gas struts with a memory foam mattress, and a Dometic remote-controlled air-conditioning unit and can be raised via two Heason electronic actuators. The sleeping area is insulated with DuPont Coolmax material. The electrical system was reportedly installed by Batteries and Solar of Plymouth, England and includes a roof-mounted solar panel system with two 100W panels, two Victron Super Cycle 125ah batteries, C-Tek controllers and battery management system, a Cotek 3.5kw inverter, and a Sergeant EC160 power supply unit with a split charger. The 3.5-liter Rover V8 is equipped with refurbished dual Stromberg carburetors and is said to be a replacement unit that was installed during the build. The fuel pump has reportedly been replaced, and the seller states that the truck is equipped with an aluminum radiator, a stainless-steel fuel tank and exhaust system, a custom oil cooler, WOSP high-output alternator, silicon leads, and a Viper ignition coil and electronic distributor. The seller notes that R&L Auto Electrics of Plymouth, England was contracted to oversee the electrical installation, and all three wiring looms have been replaced. Power is sent to all four wheels via an LT95 four-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a vacuum-operated locking center differential that has reportedly been refreshed. The transmission is said to have been reconditioned during the build, an aluminum clutch reservoir has been installed, and the seller notes that the clutch and release cylinder were replaced. The independent chassis has been powder coated black and fitted with replacement polyurethane bushings.
