This 1990 Mercedes-Benz 500SL was initially delivered to GT Motorcar Co. of Erie, Pennsylvania, and now shows 59k miles. It is finished in Light Ivory over Stone Pine Green leather and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a body-color hardtop, a brown soft top, 16″ Gullideckel wheels, power-adjustable seats, automatic climate control, and a factory cassette stereo. Work since 2020 included recharging the air conditioning system and replacing the water pump, thermostat, radiator hoses, power steering pump, and brake rotors. Acquired by the current owner in 2013, the car was a recipient of the Antique Automobile Club of America’s Historic Preservation of Original Features award in 2015. This R129 has been registered in Pennsylvania and Virginia and is offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with a window sticker, an owner’s manual, supplementary literature, service records, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a Pennsylvania title in the owner’s name. The car is finished in Light Ivory (623) with a body-color hardtop and a brown convertible soft top. Other exterior details include headlight wipers, fog lights, fender air vents, and pinstripes. The left quarter panel was reportedly refinished under previous ownership. Photos showing scuffs on the lower front bumper cover and wear on the soft top are provided in the gallery below along with paint meter readings. Silver-finished 16″ Gullideckel alloy wheels are mounted with 225/55 Michelin Premier A/S tires showing 2017 date codes. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The power steering pump was replaced in 2020 and the front brake rotors, pads, and wear sensors were replaced in March 2023. The power-adjustable seats are upholstered in Stone Pine Green leather and complemented by burl wood accents on the doors and center stack. Woven floor mats line the footwells, and other details include a deployable roll bar, a factory cassette stereo, automatic climate control, and front seat position memory settings. The air conditioning system was recharged in June 2023 and the cruise control is inoperative. The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 59k miles, approximately 13k of which were added under current ownership. The instrument cluster bulbs were replaced in 2018. The 5.0-liter M119 V8 was factory rated at 322 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The water pump, thermostat, and radiator hoses were replaced in 2020 and an oil change was performed in March 2023. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The window sticker lists initial delivery to GT Motorcar Co. of Erie, Pennsylvania, along with factory equipment, colors, and a total price of $85,050. A hardtop stand, an owner’s manual, supplementary literature, service records, and two keys will also accompany the car. The Carfax report notes no accidents or other damage and lists history in Pennsylvania and Virginia. The Pennsylvania title is a duplicate and carries an “Antique” brand.
