This Chevrolet Corvette convertible was modified under previous ownership as a purpose-built race car and was reportedly campaigned in vintage racing events before and after being acquired by the seller in 2018. The custom fiberglass bodywork was refinished in 2021 in red with a gold stripe, and the car is powered by a replacement 332ci V8 that was built in 2018 and is linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a removable hardtop, 15″ Bassett Racing wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and a custom side-exit exhaust system as well as a roll cage, a fire suppression system, a Hurst shifter, a front and rear camera system, a fabricated cool-suit system, an AMD transponder, and black-upholstered racing seats with five-point harnesses. Recent work in preparation for street driving consisted of fitting a horn, treaded tires, a windshield wiper and washer system, headlights and taillights, and turn signals. Previously listed on BaT in September 2023, this C2 race car is now offered again at no reserve with spare parts, spare wheels and tires, racing log books, service records since 2017, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name. Beginning in May 2021, the custom fiberglass body was repaired and modified before being repainted in Torch Red with Aurum Metallic stripes by Golden Coachwork Auto Body & Paint in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The replacement aftermarket hardtop was also refinished, and additional equipment includes a stinger-style hood, dual side mirrors, fender vents, and aftermarket side exhaust pipes. The windshield was replaced under current ownership. The car is not equipped with a soft top and imperfections are noted on the lower windshield molding. Work in preparation for the sale consisted of fitting a horn, a windshield wiper and washer system, headlights and taillights, and turn signals. Silver-finished 15″ Bassett Racing wheels are wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T white-letter tires. The chassis is equipped with a Flaming River steering rack, QA1 double-adjustable twin-tube shocks, a seven-leaf rear spring, and Extreme Suspension polyurethane bushings. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with a Wilwood master cylinder and a bias controller. In February 2021, 3R Racing of Englewood, Colorado, performed an alignment to racing specifications along with replacing the brake lines and trailing arms. The cabin is fitted with a color-matched roll cage, a driver’s Kirkey racing seat, a passenger racing seat, Crow five-point harnesses, and custom aluminum panels. Additional equipment includes a Hurst shifter, a fire suppression system, a front and rear camera system, an AMD transponder, and a fabricated cool-suit system using an Igloo cooler behind the passenger seat. A blemish is noted on the passenger-side dashboard. A three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a quick-release hub and fronts a custom dashboard housing gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage. A 10k-rpm tachometer is mounted atop the dashboard. Neither a speedometer nor odometer are installed, and the true chassis mileage is unknown. The 332ci V8 utilizes a de-stroked 350ci engine block with four-bolt main journals that was assembled by USA Performance Engines in Denver, Colorado, in 2018. Additional equipment includes a roller camshaft, ported cast iron cylinder heads, roller rockers a Mallory ignition system, a Fuel Safe fuel cell, a Petersen three-stage oil pump with a Coleman 10-quart reservoir, an AED Performance carburetor with a custom airbox, and a Griffin aluminum radiator with an electric fan. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.86:1 limited-slip rear differential. The transmission has reportedly been safety wired. Two additional differential assemblies housing 4.11:1 and 3.55:1 gearing will accompany the car. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery. Vehicle log books are included in the sale along with multiple sets of wheels and tires, a Demon 750-cfm Speed Demon carburetor, service records from 2017 onward, and refurbishment photos. Since the prior auction in September 2023, the car was issued a Colorado-assigned VIN and title.
