This Ferrari 340 MM re-creation was constructed approximately 10 years ago by MC Auto Creations in Texas using the chassis and running gear from a 1977 Ferrari 400 GT. Featuring aluminum barchetta-style bodywork finished in red, the car is powered by a 4.8-liter Colombo quad-cam V12 that breathes through six sidedraft Weber carburetors and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Additional features include four-wheel disc brakes, independent suspension with coilover shock absorbers, an oil cooler, a quad-outlet exhaust system, painted 16” wire wheels, fixed-back bucket seats trimmed in tan leather, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The car was acquired by the selling dealer and imported to Europe approximately two years ago. This 340 MM re-creation is now offered at no reserve in Malle, Belgium, with Belgian registration. The 340 MM was introduced in 1953 as Ferrari’s contender for that year’s Mille Miglia, where two examples of the model finished first and fourth. Of the 10 original 340 MMs produced, four were coupes specialized for Le Mans while six wore open coachwork by Vignale or Touring. This re-creation’s aluminum body was fabricated by MC Auto Creations in the style of a Vignale spider and is finished in red with gray rocker panels. Design features include triple oval portholes in each fender, triangular ducts behind each rear wheel, a forward-hinged hood panel with louvers and leather hold-down straps, recessed headlights, a single-piece windshield, and a Monza-style fuel filler cap. Silver-painted wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and wear 215/70R16 BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A tires. Running gear carried over from the 400 GT chassis includes hydraulic disc brakes with four-piston calipers as well as double-wishbone suspension. Adjustable coilover shock absorbers are in place at each corner, while the 400 GT’s rear self-leveling units have been removed. The cockpit is trimmed in tan leather with quilted accents over bucket seats with fixed ventilated backs as well as over the door panels, center tunnel, kick panels, and rear bulkhead. Additional features include rubber floor mats, door-latch pull cables, and bright sill plates. The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a body-color dash panel that houses a Jaeger 8k-rpm tachometer and Veglia instrumentation including a 280 km/h speedometer and gauges monitoring fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows two kilometers, and total mileage is unknown. The 4.8-liter Tipo F101 V12 features dual overhead camshafts on each cylinder bank and breathes through six Weber 38 DCOE carburetors that are said to have been rebuilt during a 2022 service. Additional features include twin distributors, an oil cooler, and a custom coolant header tank. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. Three-into-one exhaust headers lead to quad exhaust outlets. Chassis number F101CL20789 is stamped on the frame and is listed as the identification number on the car’s registration. The car was previously titled in the US as a 1977 Ferrari.
