This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380SL remained registered in Florida until it was relocated to Maryland in 2017, and it was acquired by the seller on BaT in September 2021. Subsequent work consisted of replacing the timing components, thermostat, throttle and shifter bushings, brake master cylinder, and steering damper. Finished in Diamond Blue Metallic over blue leather, the car is powered by a 3.8-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It also has a removable hardtop, a dark blue convertible top, front fog lights, 14″ alloy wheels, cruise control, power windows, central locking, and a Becker stereo head unit with Bluetooth connectivity. This R107 shows 35k miles and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, recent service records, a hardtop stand, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Maryland title in the name of the seller’s business. The car is finished in Diamond Blue Metallic (355) and has a body-color removable hardtop and a dark blue convertible top. Exterior equipment includes front fog lamps, a power antenna, and chrome bumper trim. The soft-top boot seal was replaced under previous ownership, and the surrounding area was refinished. The power antenna and antenna grommet were replaced following the seller’s acquisition. There is a ding in the left door. Chrome-finished 14″ Bundt alloy wheels show pitting and are mounted with 205/70 General Altimax RT43 tires that show date codes from 2017. The steering damper and brake master cylinder were replaced, and an alignment was performed in October 2021. The bucket seats are trimmed in blue leather and are complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, carpets, and floor mats. Equipment includes wood veneer trim, cruise control, power windows, central locking, and a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM/cassette stereo that has been rebuilt and retrofitted with a Bluetooth module. The climate control mono valve was replaced in 2021, work in preparation for the sale included replacing the dome and glove box lights along with cleaning and conditioning the seats. VDO instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 1,100 of which were added under current ownership. The analog clock in the instrument cluster is inoperative. The 3.8-liter V8 was factory rated at 155 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque. The fuel pump was reportedly replaced prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2021, and maintenance in October 2021 consisted of an oil change replacing the timing chain, tensioner, and guides as well as the thermostat, throttle bushing, AC idler pulley, valve cover gaskets, drive belts, ignition components, fuel filter, one of the fuel hoses, and the fuel tank cap seal. The battery was replaced in December 2022, according to the seller. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. The shifter bushing was replaced in October 2021. Manufacturer’s literature, recent service records, and a hardtop stand are included in the sale. The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage and lists registration history in California, Florida, and Maryland since an initial update in 1992. Filed under: r107, sl
