1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL

This 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL is powered by a 1.9-liter inline-four that has been fitted with dual Weber side-draft carburetors. It wears a repaint in white and is equipped with a red leather interior, a four-speed manual transmission, a removable hardtop, a black soft top, a red top boot, whitewall tires, and a Becker Mexico radio. The selling dealer recently acquired the car out of long-term ownership and it is now offered in California with a copy of the data card, an owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Ohio title. Originally Strawberry Metallic, the car was refinished in white at some point in the past. The removable hardtop was stripped and repainted in 2023. Additional equipment includes a black soft top and a red top boot. The door handles and locks were replaced in 2021. Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome trim rings and hubcaps with body-color accents. The tires are Coker Classic wide whitewalls. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, a coil-sprung rear swing axle, and power-assisted drum brakes. Service in 2021 included turning the brake drums and replacing the brake shoes, rear shocks, and rear springs. The cabin has been reupholstered and features low-back bucket seats in red leather as well as matching door panels, dashboard trim, and carpets. Amenities include a Becker Mexico AM/FM radio, lap seatbelts, an analog clock, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. Service in 2021 included replacing both heater cores, the right heater box, and the windshield wiper motor. The two-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles, less than 50 of which were added under current ownership. The hardtop’s interior was also refreshed in 2023. Service included installing a wool headliner and replacing the attachment hardware, window seal, and top seals. The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four was fitted with twin Weber side-draft carburetors in 2021. Additional service that year included installing an electric fuel pump and replacing the fuel level sending unit. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission. Service in 2021 included changing the transmission fluid and replacing the differential seals.
